St Thomas' Finchfield

The Victorian church building is a locally listed stone Victorian Chapel in the heart of the community, next to a supermarket where 4,000 shoppers visit each week, it had become derelict after being left empty for over 20 years.
In 2017 Windmill Community Church bought the building to return it to community use and this included extending the building to the rear to provide an additional meeting room, an accessible toilet and storage space. Our involvement in the project began in an advisory role assessing the building and its potential for refurbishment and the extent of repairs required to achieve a successful refurbishment. My role saw the project through all phases to the completed project.
The project generated a lot of local interest and revealed a fondness for the building, through this interest the original bell was found having been saved and stored by a local resident and was offered to the church to reinstate as part of the project.
